What are Eyelash Extensions?

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions are individual synthetic lashes which are meant to look like your real lash with additional curl, length, and thickness. The extensions are glued to each one of your individual eyelashes creating a purely customized and natural look. A variety of colors are also available to further customize your look.

How do extensions feel and look?

With the correct technique, extensions look and feel 100% natural. They should be comfortable to wear and should never feel heavy. Your lashes can range from a natural, light mascara-look; to a glamorous, but still natural, thick mascara look.

Does it hurt?

No!!! If the service is done by a licensed professional, the process is completely painless and very relaxing. Most clients fall asleep during application.

How long do they last?

With proper care, lash extensions should stay on for the duration of your natural lash growth cycle. For most people the normal growth cycle is between 6 to 8 weeks. Keep in mind each lash is at a different point in the growth cycle. Hence, an extension which was put on a particular lash yesterday- may fall out tomorrow. This is where the upkeep comes in.

What does the upkeep consist of?

To maintain the look of your lashes, touchups (refills) are recommended every 2 to 3 weeks. If the refill is done within that time frame the appointment will be 1 hour. If the refill is not done within the 2-3 week recommended time-frame, there will be an additional cost and the appointment with take longer. Please see pricing list for more information.

What are the advantages of getting extensions?

NO MORE MASCARA!!!!! You get the incredible luxury of waking up beautiful! Lash extensions are great for special occasions, but especially for everyday wear. If you are a bride-to-be, you do not have to worry about runny mascara when you get teary on your wedding day. If you are going on a tropical vacation you do not have to worry about runny mascara while getting in and out of the water. Or for day to day, you do not have to worry about runny mascara due to workouts; allergy season; or rough days.

Can I get the lashes wet?

Yes, you can still swim, shower, and sweat with extensions. The lashes do need to remain dry for at least 48 hours after initial application and refills, to allow the lashes to dry completely.

How do I take care of my lashes?

The general rule: the less you mess with them the longer they are going to last! Oil products will break the glue down quicker, therefore, water based makeup removers and facial washes only. Remember to be gentle while cleaning around the eye area. Avoid rubbing your eyes or sleeping on your face. As mentioned above, allow at least 48 hours before getting them wet. Do not use lash curlers as these will damage and loosen the bond of the lash extensions. When separating your lashes use the tip of a clean mascara spooly to gently move them back into place, do not use the whole brush to comb them as this may loosen the bond of the extension.

What is the application process?

During the consultation, the outcome is decided based on your desired length and overall look. During the application process you are lying down and relaxed on a comfortable facial bed. Your lower lashes are then taped down to prevent your upper and lower lashes from sticking together. Your eyes then remain closed for the duration. Each lash is carefully dipped into special glue and applied to your individual lash, coming as close to the lid without actually touching skin. The synthetic lash blends seamlessly together to form a strong and invisible bond. The initial application takes from 1 hour to 2 hours depending on how many lashes you have. The refills are 1 hour if the recommended time of 2 to 3 weeks has not been surpassed and the lashes were cared for properly.

How many lashes are put on during application?

An extension is placed on every one of your individual eyelashes during the initial application and depends on how many lashes you have. The average person has between 80 and 120 lashes on each eye. During refills lashes are applied until the allowed time, typically 1 hour, is expired or until an extension is placed on all the new growth.

How do I prepare for the initial application?

Eyes need to be clean: free of mascara, eye makeup, and oily products. Also please do not curl lashes for at least 1 day prior to application. It is highly recommended you remove contacts before application. Contact supplies will not be provided due to sanitation policies and procedures, please bring contact supplies or eyeglasses. Please allow a few extra minutes to fill out the client consultation form.
